The sellers will say it is real, and maybe it is. You can’t go by the .925 stamp you see on the “silver” items. All the sellers have a .925 stamp punch in their pocket. You can tell real silver as it is not magnetic. Take a magnet with you and test the item. The intricate silver inlays like a marlin, dolphin or whale inside black surround will be explained as silver inlaid in onyx. It is not. It is plastic sanded off flush with the fake silver. The only real onyx you will find will not have inlays, but rather just the stone by itself, and then you still really can’t tell. If it looks too perfect, it is probably NOT onyx. If it looks imperfect, not symetrical, it probably is. If the price is too low, it probably isn't.
